Bearcat Radio Network announces new affiliates

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University has announced the addition of two affiliates to the Bearcat Radio Network, which for the first time will give fans throughout the entire Kansas City metro area the opportunity to listen to Bearcat games.

KCXL FM 102.9 in Kansas City and 1140 AM in Liberty have joined the Bearcat Radio Network, bringing the total number of Bearcat Radio Network affiliates to seven for the 2011-12 season.

"We have a great lineup of stations that will be carrying the Bearcats this season," Bearcat Radio Network Director Rodney Harris said.  "It's very exciting especially to be back in the Kansas City area with not only 1140 AM in Liberty, but 102.9 in downtown Kansas City. Both towers have been upgraded so it's the first time alumni, no matter where they live in the metro area, can hear Bearcat football."

KXCV FM 90.5 will continue as the flagship station in Maryville, broadcasting all football and basketball games during 2011-12. Continuing their partnerships with the Bearcat Radio Network are KKWK FM 100.1 in Cameron, KRNW FM 88.9 in Chillicothe, KVVL FM 97.1 in Maryville and KMA AM 960 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Veteran broadcaster John Coffey returns for his 27th season as the "Voice of the Bearcats" and will be joined again by Matt Gaarder, who begins his 13th season working color commentary.

Fans can hear their first Bearcat sports action when Northwest kicks off the football season Sept. 1 in Kirksville, against Truman State.
