Aug. 25, 2010 Gives Top Ranking, High Honors

MARYVILLE, Mo.-The Web site released its preseason top 25 poll and its preseason All-America team Tuesday and Northwest Missouri State's program was regarded highly in both. The Bearcats earned the top ranking from the site and had six preseason All-Americans.

Northwest senior quarterback Blake Bolles and junior wide receiver Jake Soy, first-team All-Americans in 2009, are first-team preseason All-Americans for 2010. So is senior offensive lineman Brett Grozinger, a 2009 finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, and senior cornerback Ryan Jones.

Junior linebacker Chad Kilgore, the Bearcats' leading tackler in 2009, and senior offensive lineman Jason Wiseman were second-team selections.

Four teams from the MIAA and 10 teams from Super Region 4 received preseason rankings from the site. In addition to Northwest, Washburn (No. 9), Missouri Western (No. 14) and Nebraska-Omaha (No. 20).

The Lone Star Conference has Abilene Christian (No. 4), West Texas A&M (No. 11), Texas A&M-Kingsville (No. 13), Midwestern State (No. 17) and Tarleton State (No. 18) in the rankings. Central Washington (No. 5) is also represented in the region.
