Away We Go…
MARYVILLE, Mo.—Northwest Missouri State officially kicked off the 2010-11 academic year Thursday when head football coach Mel Tjeerdsma and the defending national champion Bearcats held their first fall practice.
The sun was already high in the air at 9 a.m. but it was accompanied by a light breeze that provided a welcome relief for much of the two-hour practice. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s for each of the next two days, but Sunday’s forecasted high is 81. There is a chance of rain Friday morning.
The team donned new white (offense) and green (defense) practice jerseys and wore its traditional green helmets. Shoulder pads aren’t expected to come out of the equipment room until Saturday.
Northwest is scheduled to practice every morning until August 22 with two-a-days scheduled for the 17th and 19th. The Bearcats’ first game is 6 p.m. Sept. 2 at home against 16th-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville.For more information, please contact:
