Abe Qaoud, Senior, WR, Football
The National Semifinal game is approaching and all I can think about is it being my last game at Bearcat Stadium. It's crazy to think that it is really almost here, and the best thing about it is...this is how we planned it. Images of the goal post getting torn downed are flashing in my head every other hour, but there is still a game to be played this Saturday for the seniors' finale at Bearcat Stadium and our opponent is no joke. They are fast, physical, play hard-nosed football, and there is a reason why they are in the final four of Division II football.
It took a great second half effort last week to put us in the final four and I am so proud of the way my teammates fought until the very last play. Unfortunately, I was sidelined with a concussion after a helmet to helmet collision in the second quarter. I was upset and felt helpless standing on the sideline but at least I got a front row seat to one of the greatest games in Bearcat history. My teammates played their hearts out in all 3 phases of the game and in the end, my career here at Northwest was extended. A big reason it continued was the play of my counterpart Jake Soy. At half time of the Central Washington game, knowing that I couldn't play the rest of game and potentially the rest of my career, Jake walked up to me and promised that he would do everything he could to help continue my career. He really took over in the second half, scoring a touchdown and catching a couple of huge first downs. This showed me and the nation why he is the best WR in the country. I'm really proud of Jake and all the hard work he has put in these last couple of years and I'm really glad it's starting to pay off, he's a superstar.
Well I just had to get that off my chest; I'm really not supposed to be on a computer with this concussion and all. Don't tell my trainers about this blog. But I will be out there this Saturday, I wouldn't miss this game for the world!!
Bring everybody ya know!! See ya on Saturday!!! Go BEARCATS
