MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State quarterback Blake Bolles and linebacker Chad Kilgore have been named the MIAA offensive and defensive football players of the week, respectively, for the period ended Nov. 8.
Bolles, a junior from Lincoln, Neb., passed for a career-high 421 yards - the third-highest tally in program history - during Northwest's 56-14 win against 16th-ranked Central Missouri Saturday at Bearcat Stadium. His 3,204 yards this season are a program regular-season record and his 35 touchdown passes are three shy of the Bearcats' single-season record.
Bolles threw four touchdown passes and ran for another against the Mules. He passed for 360 yards and accounted for four touchdowns in the first half. He exited the game with five minutes remaining in the third quarter and with Northwest holding a 49-7 lead.
Kilgore, a sophomore from Orrick, Mo., led Northwest in tackles for the third game in a row. He had 10 stops against the Mules in three quarters of play. He was also credited with a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup.
Kilgore and the Bearcat defense held Central Missouri to a season-low 14 points. The Mules had been averaging 34 on the season. Central Missouri had also averaged 145 yards rushing, but managed 54 against Northwest.
Kilgore leads Northwest with 73 tackles this season. He also has a sack, an interception and 2.5 tackles-for-loss.
