Halloween at Hays
Abe Qaoud, Senior, WR, Football
The Homecoming thriller is over, what a game!! Throughout the whole game I knew we were going to win I just didn't know how. Thank goodness for some great defensive plays in overtime and the strong legs of our All-America running back LaRon Council. That game just made all of those extra conditioning drills this summer worth it because I really feel like our team was in better shape than their team and I think it showed. Washburn is a really good team with a bunch of talented players and I hope that they win out because they deserve to have a good season.
On to Fort Hays, which is step No. 8 in our route to a conference championship. I know that we already have a share of it, but at Northwest we are greedy and we don't like to share!
Fort Hays is no push over. They are a good football team. Heck, every team in the MIAA is a good football team. I like to label our conference as the SEC of division II football where every team is a contender and any one team can lose in our conference on any Saturday. We must prepare and execute to be successful.
One thing I am NOT looking forward to is that bus ride through Kansas. Once we pass Kansas City there is nothing in sight. It is a long and boring six-hour ride but it is one of my last road trips as a Bearcat football player so I am going to make the most of every minute this weekend. It is Halloween weekend so I just want to wish everyone a safe Halloween and if you are making that trip to come see us play in Kansas then you are truly a great Bearcat fan and we appreciate you!!
See ya on Saturday!! GO BEARCATS!!!
