On The Road to Southwest Baptist

-Sean Paddock, Senior, Defensive End, Football

Paddock here...

Just finished my usual morning routine. Although it's nice to be able to wake up and make my own breakfast, I do miss those comfy hotel beds. We're making a day trip today to go play Southwest Baptist. Our coaches have been talking about how important it is to focus on the 2009 Baptist team and not to think about them as the "Old Baptist." I think for the most part everyone has been able to do that. We had a pretty good week of preparation and have identified some things we hope to exploit in tonight's game. If we play like we know we can, everything will take care of itself.

We concluded this week of practice with our walk-through, the same way we do every week. Each walk-through is preceded by a very heated game of walking football. The "good guys" (represented by the d-line) held off their opponent's attempt to bounce back from a crushing defeat last week to move to 2-0 on the year. Seniors Abe Qaoud and Nick Rhodes didn't have much to say about this week's defeat.

We're about to shove off and go play the game that really matters. We all have a nasty taste in our mouths from last week that we want to get rid of, and to do that we will have to go down and stick it to the purple Bearcats. The biggest challenge ahead of the D this week will be containing SBU's QB... and he can scoot. Time to go.

Adios,
