On To Bolivar
-Abe Qaoud, Senior, Wide Receiver, Football
The season has officially started and although it hasn't begun the way we planned, there is still a lot of football left to be played. We made a lot of mistakes in the first game and now the challenge is to learn from those mistakes and improve on them. It was only one game and we understand that, but we also understand that there is much improvement to be made, especially on the offensive side of the ball. ACU was a good team and I'm glad we played a tough opponent to start the season. I know it will only benefit us from here on out. That game is over and it's time to focus on Southwest Baptist University.
In the past we've had great success against SBU, but like I said before our accomplishments in the past don't matter. They are an improved team with a lot of talented skill players who can play with any team in our conference. We have to go down there and play 4 quarters of good football to beat them and I think that it's going to be a great challenge for this football team. They played Central Missouri hard for 4 quarters last week and almost beat them. Central was preseason ranked in the top 3 by most coaches in the MIAA. That should give you an idea about how much SBU has improved.
The game is Thursday night down in Bolivar, Mo. The last time we went down there was in 2006 and beat them pretty bad on their senior day. That was my redshirt freshman year and I remember it was a fun game with a lot of action. Most of the action was from the Bearcats making big plays and I am confident that if we play hard for 4 quarters we can do much of the same. However, if we do not improve on our mistakes from the first game it's going to be a long day. The bus ride for Bolivar leaves Thursday morning and I am very excited for what should be an awesome game.
That's all I got this week. See ya in Bolívar. GO BEARCATS!!!
