Paddock One of 54 Nominees For Good Works Team
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State senior defensive end Sean Paddock (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley HS) is one of 54 nominees for the 2009 Allstate / AFCA Good Works Team announced Thursday. The team honors college football players who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement.
Paddock, selected as one of four Bearcat captains for the upcoming season, joins a group of nominees representing Division I-Football Championship Series, Division II, Division II and NAIA). The 11-person Good Works Team will be announced during the 2009 college football season.
In addition to earning academic all-district honors last season, Paddock was a unanimous first-team, all-conference end as voted on by the MIAA's head coaches. He went on appear on three All-America teams including Daktronics, which selected Paddock to its first team.
Paddock's resume offers several examples of the positive impact he's had on the local community. He established the Pies for Pups program, a pie and pizza eating contest fundraiser for the Humane Society. Paddock also donated his time to Yes Camp, a camp designed to teach middle school students business skills. Building Habitat for Humanity homes, participating in reading programs and trick-or-treating for canned goods - he's done those, too.
On the field, he led the Bearcats with 13.5 tackles-for-loss and finished fourth in the MIAA with six sacks in 2008. His 55 tackles ranked sixth on the team. He also forced three fumbles, recovered four and blocked a kick.
