KINGSVILLE, Texas-Northwest Missouri State senior offensive linemen Reid Kirby and Tom Pestock have been invited to participate on the West squad for the 15th Valero Cactus Bowl Division II Senior All-Star Game announced Monday.
The game will take place Jan. 9 at Javelina Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M-Kingsville. Kickoff is set for 6:35 p.m., CST.
Kirby and Pestock are two of 10 MIAA players selected to the team. They follow linebackers Jared Erspamer and Matt Robertson, who represented Northwest a year ago and combined for 13 tackles.
The East team won last year's contest 42-13 in front of a crowd of 7,800. The West leads the all-time series 8-5-1.
Kirby and Pestock were part of a line which helped Northwest average 40 points and 443.6 yards per game as the Bearcats advanced to their fourth consecutive title game. Pestock was a first-team All-MIAA choice in 2008, while Kirby earned second-team honors.
The Cactus Bowl started as the Snow Bowl in 1991, when it was played at the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D. The game moved to Kingsville in 2001 where it became the Cactus Bowl. The bowl was suspended in 2007, but resumed in 2008.
