Northwest Up To No. 9; Five MIAA Teams in Top 25

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State football is ranked ninth in the latest polls released by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D2Football.com. The Bearcats are 10-0 when playing as the ninth-ranked team in the nation.

Half of the teams in the MIAA are ranked in this week's polls. The AFCA rankings include Nebraska-Omaha (#5), Pittsburg State (#7), Washburn (#18) and Central Missouri (#24). D2Football.com also has Nebraska-Omaha at No. 5, but has Pittsburg State at No. 10, Washburn at No. 13 and Central Missouri at No. 21.

Surprisingly, none of the five ranked teams will face each other in the opening week of conference play. A full list of Saturday's games include:

Missouri Western at Northwest Missouri State, 1 p.m.
Emporia State at Nebraska-Omaha, 6 p.m.
Missouri Southern at Pittsburg State, 6 p.m.
Central Missouri at Truman, 7 p.m.
Washburn at Fort Hays State, 7 p.m.
