Flynn and Robertson Named to Valero Cactus Bowl
KINGSVILLE, Texas - Northwest Missouri State seniors Dallas Flynn and Matt Robertson were selected to the Valero Cactus Bowl Division II All-Star Game slated for Jan. 11. The game will take place at Javelina Stadium on the Texas A&M-Kingsville campus at 7 p.m., with a broadcast on Fox Sports Net Southwest.
Both will play for the West Team and join seven other players from the MIAA who were selected. Flynn and Robertson are the first Bearcats to appear in the all-star game since Andre Rector was selected for the 2006 game.
Flynn earned All-MIAA first-team honors and goes into Saturday's championship game with 35 tackles. He's recorded six tackles for loss and is third on the team with three sacks. He leads the team with seven quarterback hurries and his two blocked kicks are second among Bearcats. His 19 career sacks are fifth in school records.
A second-team All-MIAA selection, Robertson's 99 tackles tie him as the team leader. He returned an interception for 17 yards in the quarterfinal contest with Chadron State Dec. 1. Robertson is third on the team with seven tackles for loss, fifth with 2.5 sacks and tied for fifth with four pass breakups this season.
Robertson and Flynn will join their teammates when Northwest plays Valdosta State in the Division II National Championship Saturday. Kickoff from Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala., is set for 11 a.m. with a nationwide broadcast on ESPN2.
