Omon Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest senior Xavier Omon has been named the MIAA's Offensive Player of the Week for the period ended Oct. 14. It's the third time the tailback has earned the honor in the last four weeks and the fifth time he's earned the award in his career.
Omon compiled his second consecutive 200-yard rushing effort in Northwest's 28-26 win against Central Missouri Saturday at Bearcat Stadium. He had an 80-yard touchdown run in the first half and finished with 217 yards on 25 carries. It was his longest run from scrimmage this season.
Omon has rushed for at least 100 yards in 11 straight games and 31 overall in his career. The touchdown gave him 470 career points, good for seventh on the Division II all-time list.
Omon needs 82 yards to surpass Pittsburg State's Ronald Moore (1989-92) for fourth on the MIAA career rushing list.
