Top Ranked Team in Southwest Region Earns First Round Bye; Hosts Playoff Game on Nov. 25

MARYVILLE -- (playoff bracket) Northwest Missouri State football, the No. 1 seed in the Southwest Region, earned a first round bye in the NCAA Division II Playoffs, announced this afternoon (Nov. 12) by the NCAA offices. Northwest will host the Second Round on Saturday, Nov. 25 and the winner of the No. 4 and No. 5 game between Midwestern (Tex.) State and Missouri Western State. Those two teams will meet on Saturday, Nov. 18 in Wichita Falls, Tex.

Kick-off from Bearcat Stadium on Nov. 25 is scheduled for 12 p.m. CST. Northwest is making its 11th NCAA Playoff appearance and third straight. Standing 16-8 all-time in the playoffs, Northwest rattled off a NCAA-record four straight road wins to make it to the 2005 National Championship game. The Bearcats have never faced either Midwestern State or Missouri Western in the postseason. The last meeting with Midwestern was a 55-16 home win on Sept. 5, 1998 -- Northwest is 2-0 all-time against the Mustangs. Against the Griffons of Missouri Western, Northwest is 16-10 all-time in the series having won the last three meetings including a 24-21 decision back on Sept. 23. Missouri Western is making its first NCAA Playoff appearance.

Tickets:
Beginning Monday, Nov. 13 at 8:00 am, Northwest will begin ticket sales for the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs. The Northwest ticket office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be ordered in person at the Student Services Center, by phone (660.562.1212) or on-line at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/tickets/. Cash, check and credit card are the only accepted methods of payment. The University closes for the Thanksgiving Holiday Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase through NOON.

Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their season seats Monday, Nov. 13 through Friday, Nov. 17. Any seats not purchased by season ticket holders will be available to the general public beginning on Monday, Nov. 20. Those without season tickets can purchase seats that do not belong to season tickets holders starting Monday, Nov. 13. Ticket prices are as follows:
• Reserved: Adults - $12; Students - $5
• Standing Room Only: Adults - $8; Students; $5
Student prices are for college students w/ ID and age 2 through high? school (with proper ID). Ages 2 and under are free

The stadium ticket office opens at 10 a.m. on game-day with the gates set to open at 10:30 a.m. Live music, Bearcat apparel and food is available at the Bearcat Zone from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Artificial noisemaker policy:
Due to NCAA policy, any artificial noisemaker is prohibited in the stadium. Artificial noisemakers include, and not limited to, air horns, electronic instruments, cannons, cow bells, thunder sticks, jugs w/ coins, etc., are not permissible.

Green House Seating -- Northwest Student seating
The Green House and Northwest students section will be seated in sections CC and DD. All seats are reserved seating. The NCAA mandates the host university to guarantee a minimum of 500 tickets with those seats located directly behind the opposing team's bench between the 30 yard lines, beginning with the rows closest to the playing field to accommodate those 500 seats. Student tickets can be ordered in person at the Student Services Center, by phone (660.562.1212) or on-line at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/tickets/. Tickets cannot be charged to university accounts.
