Tollefson Earns Invitation to Hula Bowl
HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Northwest Missouri State senior defensive lineman Dave Tollefson (Concord, Calif.) has been selected to play in the 60th Annual Hula Bowl with some of the top college football players in the country, announced by Hula Bowl officials. The game, set for Jan. 21, 2006 at 6 p.m. CST, will feature NCAA Division I and II college football athletes. Aloha Stadium in Honolulu will serve as host with the game carried live on ESPN.
Tollefson is the fourth Northwest player invited to the Hula Bowl following wide receiver / kick returner Jamaica Rector (2004), offensive lineman Seth Wand (2002) and wide receiver / kick returner Tony Miles (2000).
"This is a special honor for Dave to be invited to this all-star game," said head coach Mel Tjeerdsma. "There are not many Division II players that get a chance to play in a setting with scouts there."
Both teams will have approximately 45 players on each side and are still in the process of getting set. Tommy Tuberville, the head coach from Auburn University will be the East Team general while Ty Willingham from the University of Washington is the mentor of the West Team.

Tollefson ranks 18th in the NCAA in sacks per game with 0.9 and was MIAA Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 17) after he compiled 4.0 sacks, 6.0 tackles and 1 blocked punt against Missouri Western. He has had four multiple sack games this year including a 3.0 effort in the second round playoff win at Washburn last Saturday. Last season, Tollefson was voted to the Second Team All-MIAA club in his first season at Northwest after totaling 8.5 sacks.
