Steve Williams Out for the Remainder of the Year
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State senior defensive lineman Steve Williams (Bolingbrook, Ill.) will be out for the remainder of the season, announced today. Williams, a 6-3, 300 lb. tackle, has been hobbled this season by groin and hip injuries as he has missed three of the eight games. Williams underwent surgery on Thursday to repair a sports hernia.
A unanimous 2004 First-Team All-Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) defensive pick, Williams has totaled 31 tackles including 1.5 sacks on the season. Williams played the first two games before sitting out against Truman State on Sept. 10. Three games later against Emporia State (Oct. 1), Williams had a career-day posting 10 tackles including one for a loss. The Bearcat defense shutout the Hornets 14-0. Last Saturday, Williams played against Central Missouri and gathered five tackles and 1.0 sack.
No. 16 Northwest takes part in the Fall Classic at Arrowhead IV against No. 14 Pittsburg State on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m.
