Northwest and Missouri Western to Donate Part of Game Sales to Hurricane Katrina Victims
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- An announcement was made today that Northwest Missouri State University and Missouri Western State University will take part in "Rivals for Relief" a benefit effort for Hurricane Katrina victims, on Saturday, Sept. 17, when the Bearcats and Griffons take the football field. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. at Spratt Memorial Stadium.
Missouri Western Athletics will donate $1 of each ticket sold to the relief effort while during the game, members of the MWSU and NMSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's will be roaming the stands, taking donations for the American Red Cross. A goal of $10,000 has been established with all relief donations going toward Hurricane Katrina victims.
Over $2,500 has already been donated from local and area businesses which have shown interest in helping with the "Rivals for Relief" effort. Wendy's of St. Joseph has committed funds as well as an anonymous donor purchased tickets for local youth at the YMCA in St. Joseph to come and participate in the game and fundraising effort.
There are tickets available on the campus of Northwest at the Student Services Center located in the Administration Building. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling (660) 562-1212 or by logging on to www.NorthwestBearcats.com. A limited amount of tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.
First, Northwest hosts Truman State in the Centennial Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. from Bearcat Stadium.
