Northwest Football Signing Class Balloons to 20 With Brisbane and Schroeder Added

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head football coach Mel Tjeerdsma announced the signing of Maryville high school senior Sydney Brisbane and St. Francis Borgia prep standout Joe Schroeder (Washington, Mo.) to National Letters of Intent today. The two players join a lengthy list of 2005 recruits which include athletes from five states.

"I am really excited to have Brisbane," said Tjeerdsma. "He is a great athlete and has a lot of possibilities at wide receiver at Northwest. Also, he is a homegrown young man from Maryville and very popular in this community. It is a real plus to have him sign with us.

"Schroeder has lots of possibilities as a kicker. He has an extremely strong leg. I feel like he will develop to be an outstanding kicker in the future at Northwest."

Notes: Media & Coaches First Team All-State Class 3A selection at wide receiver...Named as well to the First Team All-District and All-Conference teams...Mentioned on the 2004 First Team All-MEC squad for basketball...Scored two touchdowns and a two-point conversion vs. Jefferson last season...Has drawn interest from Division I-A Wyoming and I-AA programs Southern Illinois and Youngstown State.

• JOE SCHROEDER (Washington, Mo.) - Placekicker, 6-0, 185 lb.
High School: St. Francis Borgia Head Coach: Dale Gildehaus Parents: Tom & Debbie Major: Athletic Training
Notes: Was a two-time First Team Class 3A All-State mention as a kicker...Named First Team All-Conference and Missouri Sports Writers All-State on two occasions...Second Team St. Louis Area All-Independent Team at defensive back...Recognized at punter with 2004 Honorable Mention St. Louis Area All-Independent accolades...Booted 39-yard field goal last season.
