Northwest Football Selected to Host Playoff Game, Nov. 20INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Northwest Missouri State University football program was selected as the No. 2 seed in the Southwest Region and will pick up a first-round bye on Nov. 13, announced today by the NCAA Division II Football Committee. The Bearcats are scheduled to host a second round contest, Nov. 20 at Bearcat Stadium with kick-off at 12:00 p.m. They will await the winner of the Texas A&M Kingsville and Southeastern Oklahoma game played in Kingsville next Saturday. Texas A&M Kingsville is a No. 3 seed and sits with an 8-1 overall record and Southeastern Oklahoma is a No. 6 seed and 8-2 on the year.
Pittsburg State earned the No. 1 Southwest seed and awaits the Midwestern State/Colorado Mines winner.
Overall, eight first-round games will be conducted on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Two teams in each of the four regions received a first-round bye. Six teams selected per region make up the field of 24 teams. Quarterfinal winners will advance to play in the semifinals on the campus of one of the competing institutions.

For tickets, season ticket holders will be given the opportunity, until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 to purchase their season seat for the playoff game. The cost is $12.00 for all reserved seats. Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 17 any unclaimed reserved season tickets can be purchased by the general public. In addition, should Northwest advance and host additional games the same procedure will be utilized.
Tickets will be available for sale through close of business Friday, Nov. 19 the week of the game. On the day of the competition, ticket sales and gates will open at 10:30 a.m. with a noon kickoff, and individual game tickets will be available at the following prices: Reserved - $12.00 Adult, General Admission - $8.00, Student General Admission - $4.00.

Despite losing to Pittsburg State yesterday (Saturday) by a count of 21-17 at the Fall Classic at Arrowhead III, the Bearcats will be hosting a playoff tilt for the first time since a 45-41 defeat of No. 11 Minnesota Duluth, Nov. 23, 2002. The 'Cats then lost to No. 7 Northern Colorado in the second round, 23-12.
The championship game will be played December 11, at 3 p.m. Central time at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Alabama and will be broadcast live on ESPN. The 2004 championship will mark 19 consecutive years that the Division II championship game has been played in Florence.
