Bearcat Football Ranked No. 22 By Street and Smith's
MARYVILLE, Mo. - For the eighth consecutive season, Northwest Missouri State University's football team has been ranked in at least one publication's preseason poll. The Bearcats were ranked No. 22 in the recently-published Street & Smith's College Football Magazine.
Northwest returns 13 starters from its 2003 squad, which finished 8-3 and won a share of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championship. It was the seventh MIAA title won outright or shared by the Bearcats in the last eight years.
Northwest is one of four MIAA teams in the Street & Smith's ranking. There are 10 schools from the new NCAA Division II Southwest Region in the Top 25. The MIAA, the Lone Star Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference have been combined to make up the new region.
The Bearcats open the 2004 campaign with an August 28 matchup against Minnesota-State Moorhead at Rickenbrode Stadium. For ticket information, please call 660-562-1212.
