Northwest Tabs Captains for 2004 Football Season
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University head football coach Mel Tjeerdsma has announced team captains for the 2004 season. Five members of the Bearcat football team were selected by their peers to serve as team captains this season. The group includes four seniors, one junior, three offensive players and two defensive players.
Offensive players chosen by their teammates to serve as captains next season are quarterback Josh Lamberson (Jr., Wilber, Neb.) and wide receivers Jamaica Rector (Sr., Celeste, Texas) and Morris White (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.). Defensive players selected as team captains are linebackers Troy Tysdahl (Sr., Hubbard, Iowa) and Adam Long (Sr., Bennington, Neb.).
"Troy (Tysdahl) is in his second year as a captain and has been an outstanding leader for us," Tjeerdsma said. "Josh Lamberson led our offense last year and has established himself as a leader on this team. Adam (Long), Jamaica (Rector) and Morris (White) have all performed extremely well and demonstrated leadership qualities, as well. I'm excited about this group as a whole. I think they'll do a great job. I'm just really excited about getting the 2004 season going."
Northwest put together an 8-3 record last season and shared the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championship. The Bearcats have won or shared seven of the last eight MIAA titles.
Northwest opens the 2004 season Aug. 28, hosting Minnesota State-Moorhead at Rickenbrode Stadium.
