Stadium Open House Slated for Aug. 23
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University football fans will have to wait until Sept. 13 to see their beloved Bearcats compete in the newly-renovated Rickenbrode Stadium. But on August 23, fans will have an opportunity to mingle with Bearcat athletes from all of Northwest's fall sports and get a look at one of the finest football facilites in all of NCAA Division II.
Northwest Athletics is hosting an Open House at the stadium in conjunction with the Bearcat Booster Club's annual Fall Sports Barbecue. Fans will get to tour the new facility, including many areas they may never have another opportunity to see in person. Among the stadium locations which will be open for tours are the luxury suites, the press suite, the video board operations center, locker rooms and other areas.
Events will begin at 6 p.m. with food being served. Bearcat Booster Club members will have received a wristband in the mail, allowing them to take part in the barbecue at no charge. Members of the general public are welcome to purchase meals at the barbecue for $6 each.
Fans in attendance will then hear brief comments from Northwest's fall sports head coaches. Mel Tjeerdsma (football), Lori DeJongh-Slight (volleyball), Tracy Cross (soccer), Richard Alsup (men's cross country) and Vicki Wooton (women's cross country) will begin their comments around 6:15 p.m.
While this event is being held in conjunction with the Bearcat Booster Club Fall Sports Barbecue, Northwest Athletics encourages anyone interested in getting an inside glimpse of the new stadium to attend. Tours of the stadium will commence immediately following the conclusion of the coaches' comments and will conclude around 8 p.m. Tours are free and available to anyone.
