Tatum Named Assistant Head Coach
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State head football coach Mel Tjeerdsma has announced that Bart Tatum has been promoted to assistant head coach.
Tatum will retain his duties as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, but will have additional duties with his new title. According to Tjeerdsma, Tatum will be more actively involved in eligibility, scholarship equivalencies and team discipline, as well as other areas.
"A lot of football programs around the country have added this position, or promoted someone to it," Tjeerdsma said. "I thought it was time that we do that as well. In light of what Bart has been doing academically, finishing up his doctorate this summer, this is a positive next step in his career. Now that he's done with his doctorate, he will have even more time to focus on football. This move will definitely help me administer this football program."
Tatum was hired as offensive line coach by Tjeerdsma in 1994 and has been with the Bearcat program ever since.
