Bearcats Finish Fifth at Fort Hays State OpenMen's Results | Women's Results
HAYS, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Fort Hays State Open on Saturday with both teams finishing in fifth place.
Nolan Zimmer was the top finisher for the men's team, running the 8K race in a time of 24:22.9. Zimmer was also the top finisher from the MIAA, placing third. Drew Keefer came in 20th out of the field of 226 runners with a time of 25:05.5. Kit Anderson and Wick Cunningham also finished in the top 50 for Northwest.
The Bearcats scored 145 points and finished fifth in a field that featured 21 other schools. Adams State won the event with 33 points, placing four runners in the top-10.
Anne Herbert placed just outside the top-10 finishing 11th with a time of 18:19.43 in the women’s 5K run. Herbert finished fourth among all MIAA runners. Taylor Woodruff placed 21st out of 168 runners for the Bearcats running in 18:41.96. Katti Carroll, Melissa Shepherd and Jessica Johnson all finished inside the top 50 for Northwest.
Out of the 17 teams that competed on the women’s side, Northwest took fifth place with 140 points. Adams State completed the daily sweep, winning with 54 points.
Next up for the Bearcats will be the MIAA Championships Oct. 26 in Pittsburg, Kan.
