Cross Country Finishes Strong at SIUMen's Results | Women's Results
CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Northwest Missouri State cross country teams competed at the Southern Illinois Saluki Invitational on Saturday. The men's team finished second overall and the women's team placed third.
Southern Illinois won both the men's and women's events. The Bearcat men finished with 48 total points, ahead of Murray State (94), SE Missouri State (97) and Rend Lake JC (159). The women had 69 points, finishing just 14 points behind Murray State (55) who placed second.
For the Bearcat men, Nolan Zimmer finished sixth overall, running 25:54.93 on the 8k course. Freshman Wick Cunningham was 10th overall in 26:36.15. Drew Keefer, Ryan Cox, Tim Grundmayer and Kit Anderson finished 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th, respectively.
On the women's side, Anne Herbert finished ninth overall in 18:53.06 for the 5k course. Taylor Woodruff was 14th overall (19:03.44). Katti Carroll and Jessica Johnson finished 17th and 18th, respectively, while Melissa Shepherd was 22nd overall.
Up next, Northwest will head to Fayetteville, Ark., on Oct. 5 for the Arkansas Chili Pepper Invitational.
