MIAA Releases Preseason Cross Country Polls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s and men’s cross country teams were ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, in the preseason MIAA Coaches poll. The Bearcats totaled 62 points on the women’s side and had 30 on the men’s side.

Southwest Baptist received five first place votes on the women’s side and had 94 points. Missouri Southern received four votes and was ranked second with 92 points. Pittsburg State had 68 points and two first place votes to rank third. Central Missouri had 73 points and was ranked fourth.

On the men’s side, Southwest Baptist had 58 points and Missouri Southern tallied 57 points. Both programs received four first-place votes. Fort Hays State was third with 47 points and one first-place vote. Nebraska-Kearney (45 points) and Central Missouri (34 points), checked in a the fourth and fifth poll positions.

Northwest hosts the Bearcat Open on Sept. 6 to begin the 2013 campaign. The meet will be hosted by the Maryville Country Club.
