Darling paces cross country in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Northwest Missouri State men’s and women’s cross country teams looked good at the Woody Greeno Invitational Saturday.

Senior Ryan Darling led the men’s team finishing in 11th place with a time of 25:25.9. The Bearcats had two other top 50 finishers in sophomore Drew Keefer (26:05.0) and freshman Nolan Zimmer (26:16.6).

The invitational had over 300 runners in the men’s division. The race is considered to be one of the toughest in the Midwest.

On the Northwest women’s cross country team, senior Jordan Esry was the top finisher for the Bearcats. Esry finished 35th with a time of 23:10.01.

Sophomore Ann Herbet finished 53rd (23:38.6) and freshman teammate Maci Hicks finished right behind her with a time of 23:39.9.

The women’s event had over 250 competitors in all.

The Northwest cross country teams will be competing again Sept. 29 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. as the Bearcats take on new foes from the Central Region.
