Bearcats move into Top 25
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State women's cross country team cracked the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top 25, checking in at No. 21 as released by the organization on Wednesday.
The Bearcats pulled off a men's and women's sweep at the Planet Sub Invitational hosted by Emporia State last weekend. The women, who were paced by Angela Adams' second-place finish, move into the top 25 for the first time since last season's preseason poll when they were ranked at No. 23.
The Northwest women also moved up one spot to No. 4 in the South Central Region poll. The top three spots remained steady with Midwestern State at No. 1 followed by Truman State and Pittsburg State.
On the men's side, the Bearcats held onto their No. 6 South Central Region ranking, while Central Missouri continues to hold onto the No. 1 spot. The top six on the men's side remained unchanged with the exception of Harding switching spots with Missouri Southern, moving from No. 7 to No. 4.
The Bearcats continue action this weekend in Rolla, Mo., at the Jackling Jocks Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T. Northwest will have two weeks off to prepare for the MIAA Championships hosted by Missouri Southern on Oct. 22.
