Bearcats Run Strong at Yellowjacket Classic
LAMONI, Iowa-The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams competed strongly Saturday afternoon at the Graceland Yellowjacket Classic. The men finished in sixth place out of 18 teams, while the Bearcat women placed 2nd out of 16 teams.
Angela Adams finished second overall with a time of 18:18. Adams has been the top finisher for the Bearcats in all four of the races she has competed in this season. Grand View's Obsie Birru won the women's 5K race with a time of 17:39. Taylor Woodruff placed 17th for the Bearcats, running a time of 19:45.
Madison Marshman finished two spots behind Woodruff in 19th with a time of 19:49. Kayli Hrdlicka, Heidi Johnson, Mary Jantz, Hana Speaks, Stevie Katzar and Megan Jacobsen also ran for the Bearcats at Graceland.
T.R. Pursell once again led the Bearcat men. Pursell ran an 8K time of 25:52, finishing in ninth-place. Ryan Darling and Zach Layton finished in 30th and 31st-place, respectively for Northwest. Darling ran a time of 26:58, while Layton finished with a time of 27:00.
Sean Feehan, Jared Walker, David Nilges, Derek Roberts, Josh Coburn and Taylor Overmiller competed as well.
Next Up: Northwest will be off next week and will return to action on Nov. 6 as the Bearcats travel to Fort Hays State for the MIAA Championships.
