Adams, Pursell Named MIAA Athletes of the Week
Juniors Angela Adams and T.R. Pursell have been named the MIAA cross country Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17. Both Adams and Pursell ran at the 22nd annual Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., last Saturday.
Pursell, who is a native of Peoria, Ill., ran the sixth fastest 10K race in program history, running a time of 31:31.71 to finish 91st at the Festival, and 12th place out of Division II, collegiate runners. He has been the top finisher for the Bearcats in all four races this season.
Adams, a native of North Kansas City, finished with her fastest time of the season (17:42.39) at the Festival, which was hosted by the University of Arkansas. Adams placed 38th overall and was fifth out of Division II, collegiate runners.
The Bearcats will be traveling to Lamoni, Iowa this Saturday for the Graceland Invitational. It will be Northwest's final tune-up before the MIAA Championships in two weeks hosted by Fort Hays State.
