Bearcat Men, Pursell Run Strong at Roy Griak Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-The Northwest Missouri State cross country teams competed at the 25th annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday morning.
The Bearcat men finished in seventh-place out of 28 teams competing in the Division II race. TR Pursell was the top finisher for Northwest. Pursell finished in 10th-place among collegiate runners with a time of 25:57.1.
Zach Layton had the second-best finish for a Bearcat. Layton ran a time of 26:41 which was good enough for 27th-place. Ryan Podjenski, Ryan Darling, Carl Larsson, Jared Walker and David Nilges also ran for Northwest on Saturday.
The Northwest women placed 12th overall as a team out of 20. Madison Marshman had the best time for the Bearcats, running a time of 24:03.1 which put her in 46th-place overall. Kayli Hrdlicka finished 50th, just behind Marshman with a time of 24:10.4. Freshman Taylor Woodruff finished in 67th-place for the Bearcats with a time of 24:22.4.
Jen Dittburner, Jordan Esry, Mary Jantz and Hana Speaks also competed at the Invitational for Northwest.
Next Up: Northwest will be traveling to Emporia, Kan., on Friday for the Emporia State Invitational.
