Northwest men outduel William Jewell
Top Three Collegiate Runners:
1. Pursell, Jr., NW - 21:13.8
2. Layton, Jr., NW - 21:58.9
3. Feehan, Jr., NW - 22:06.2
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Three Northwest Missouri State juniors took the first three placings in the Bearcats' dual victory against William Jewell Saturday at the Bearcat Open, a four-mile race that took place on the Bearcat Cross Country Course. Northwest swept positions 1-4 and outscored William Jewell 18-41.
Northwest graduate Matt Pohren competed for Team Biturong and won the event with a time of 21:10.6. T.R. Pursell, the top collegiate finisher, was three seconds back in second place. Zach Layton's time of 21:58.9 captured third. Sean Feehan ran more than a minute faster than he did at this race last season and placed fourth with a time of 22:06.2.
Northwest sophomore Carl Larsson rounded out the top five after finishing in 22:28. William Jewell's top performers, Josh Connor (22:31.4) and Jesse Funk (22:32.8), took sixth and seventh, respectively.
