MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State junior Angela Adams won the Bearcat Open five-kilometer race with a course-record time of 18:26.7 Saturday on the Bearcat Cross Country Course. Adams led five Northwest runners who placed in the top seven. The Bearcats' team score of 23 was 12 better than second-place William Jewell. Peru State placed third with 82 points. Northwest is the 22nd-ranked team in Division II.
William Jewell's A.J. Deng and Jessie Johnson placed second and third, respectively, with times of 19:52. Northwest senior Kayli Hrdlicka placed fourth with a time of 20:04. Bearcat freshman Taylor Woodruff competed in her first collegiate meet and took fifth with a time of 20:09.
