Clay Martin Named All-Academic Honoree
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State cross country and track & field athlete Clay Martin was named as a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-Academic honoree.
The junior from Blue Springs, Mo., is a chemistry major with a 3.32 cumulative GPA. Martin placed 35th at the MIAA cross country championships held last October and ran a career-best eight-kilometer time of 26:17 at the DePauw Invitational in October as well.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition. They must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have placed in the top 30% of the field that is eligible to compete at the regional championships or have placed in the top 50% of the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. In all 152 athletes were selected from 72 different schools.
