Terre Haute, Midterms, and Looking Forward
Jordan Esry, Sophomore
The team left this past Thursday and traveled to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in the Gibson Family Invitational. They got to get on the course and jog it Friday and then raced Saturday. I think it was a very good last regular season meet for everyone. We placed third among eight teams, only being beat by Purdue University and Cedarville University. Individually we were led by Angela Adams, who placed ninth overall. Anna O'Brien, Kayli Hrdlicka, Brittany Poole and Mary Jantz rounded out the top five. Times were pretty good, especially considering that it had just rained there and the course was pretty muddy.
We now have two weeks of practice to prepare for the conference meet on Saturday, Oct. 23. We have some tough workouts this week to get ready for it. The workout tomorrow is repeat 1,000m with some quick 45 second intervals at the end. That will be followed by another tough workout Friday.
We have raced against a few of the conference schools already, but I'm starting to get really anxious to see how well we do against all of them. I think that we are going to surprise a few people.
Sorry this one is pretty short, but I better get back to studying for my midterm tests. Talk to you in a week!
