Adams Leads Bearcats at Cowboy Jamboree
STILLWATER, Okla.-Northwest Missouri State freshman Angela Adams finished 43rd of 218 runners with a 5-kilometer time of 20:19 Saturday at the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State University. The Bearcats placed 11th of 26 teams with a team score of 251. Six Northwest runners finished the race in less than 21 minutes.
Adams shaved 15 seconds off the 5K time she posted at the Bearcat Open in her first collegiate meet. She didn't compete at the Woody Greeno Open back on Sept. 20.
Mary Jantz, the Bearcats' number two runner for the third consecutive meet, finished four seconds behind Adams in 45th place. Jantz ran 23 seconds quicker than she did at the Bearcat Open.
Brittany Poole finished 49th (20:33), Maggie McManigal 51st (20:35) and Jessica Nichols 66th (20:54) to round out Northwest's top five. Madison Marshman finished right behind Nichols in 67th place (20:59) and Amada Gray was 71st with a time of 21:08.
Nichols showed the most improvement from her previous 5K race, finishing 44 seconds faster than she did at Northwest's home meet.
