OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore Ben Chappell earned MIAA Runner of the Week honors after finishing first for Northwest for the fourth straight meet at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic on Oct. 6.
Chappell paced the Bearcats with 25:54.51 on the 8K course, besting his personal record by 40 seconds. He finished 44th overall and 11th among non-Division I and unattached athletes. Northwest finished 16th out the 42 teams and seventh among non-Division I schools.
He is the first Northwest athlete to earn MIAA weekly honors since Drew Wilson picked up accolades on Sept. 27, 2005.
Chappell will lead the Bearcats into the MIAA Championships on Oct. 20 hosted by Truman State University.
