Results from the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic

Memphis, Tenn. – The Northwest Missouri State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic last weekend, hosted by Christian Brothers University. The men competed in the 8K race, against 341 runners and 42 teams, finishing 16^th overall with 462 team points. The women competed in the 5K race, against 329 runners and 41 teams, finishing eighth overall with 277 team points and finishing third among Division II teams.

Sophomore Ben Chappell led the men with a 44^th place finishing time of 25:54.51. This marks the fourth straight meet this year that Chappell has finished in first place for Northwest. Following in second for Northwest was freshman T.R. Pursell finishing with a time of 26:43.08 in 99^th place. Pursell has finished second for Northwest three out of the four meets this year.

Junior Anna O’Brien was at the front of the Bearcat effort finishing in 19^th place overall with a time of 18:44.51. This sets a new personal best for O’Brien and makes her time the eighth fastest time in Northwest history. O’Brien was the sixth best among Division II runners, beating out many Division I runners. followed right behind O’Brien finishing 20^th overall with a time of 18:50.39. This also sets a personal best for Spader.
