Men Second, Women Fourth at Concordia Invite
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Bearcat men took second place at the Concordia Invitational Saturday in Seward, Neb., while the women took fourth place.
John Heil (Sr., Excelsior Springs, Mo.) led the men for the first time this season, finishing in fourth place in a time of 27:13. Chad Fowler (Sr., Kearney, Mo.) finished behind Heil in sixth place in a time of 27:19. Kyle Keraus (Sr., Garner, Iowa) took 10th place in 27:47.
Bryan Touney (Fr., Lake Lotawana, Mo.) led a pack of four Northwest runners in 13th place in a time of 27:59. Derick Delanty (Sr., St. Joseph, Mo.) took 14th place (28:19), followed by Jamison Phillips (Sr., Chesterfield, Mo.) in 15th place (28:29), and Matt Pohren (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) in 16th place (28:34).
Ashley Grosse (Jr., Blue Springs, Mo.) led the women for the second week in a row, taking eighth place in a time of 20:51. Megan Hamilton (Fr., Winfield, Iowa) was the next Bearcat runner, finishing 18th in 21:38. Betsy Lee (Jr., Lawrence, Kan.) took 19th place in her first appearance this season in a time of 21:40.
Julie Toebben (So., Vichy, Mo.) and Dia McKee (So., O'Fallon, Mo.) rounded out the women's top five in 24th and 25th places, respectively.
The Bearcats will not be in action this weekend but will return to the course Oct. 25 for the MIAA Championships in Kirksville, Mo.
