Men Take First, Women Third at Dean White Invite

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Bearcat men's cross country team brought home the Dean White Invitational championship Saturday at Doane College in Crete, Neb. The women tied for third place at the meet.

Jamison Phillips (Sr., Chesterfield, Mo.) led the men for the third week in a row, taking third place overall in a time of 26:29. He was at the helm of a pack of six Northwest runners, who all finished within 40 seconds of each other. John Heil (Sr., Excelsior Springs, Mo.) placed fourth in a time of 26:34, and Chad Fowler (Sr., Kearney, Mo.) finished fifth in a time of 26:35.

Bryan Touney (Fr., Lake Lotawana, Mo.) took sixth place in a time of 26:42, followed by Kyle Keraus (Sr., Garner, Iowa) in seventh place in 27:04. Drew Wilson (Fr., Stanton, Iowa) ended the pack in eighth place in a time of 27:09.

The women tied for third place in the five-team meet, led by Heather Searls (Fr., Raymore, Mo.) in eighth place in a time of 20:56.76. Ashley Grosse (Jr., Blue Springs, Mo.) trailed in ninth place in a time of 21:05.40, while Dia McKee (So., O'Fallon, Mo.) took 12th in 21:18.42.

Megan Hamilton (Fr., Winfield, Iowa) placed 15th in a time of 21:36.45, and Julie Toebben (So., Vichy, Mo.) rounded out the women't top five in 17th place in 21:43.25.

The men and women will travel to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Lake Front Invitational Oct. 4.
