Women's Harriers Second at Mule Run, Men Fourth
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Central Missouri State Mule Run Friday night. The Bearcat women took a second-place finish, while the Northwest men were fourth.
For the women, Ashley Grosse (Soph., Blue Springs, Mo.) and Dia McKee (Fr., O'Fallon, Mo.) led the way. Grosse finished the two-mile run 10th in a time of 12:18.9, while McKee was right behind her in 11th at 12:19.9
Jessica Lane (Jr., Auburn, Neb.) was the third-best Northwest finisher at 18th in a time of 14:26.5. Heather Brokaw (Fr., Lake St. Louis, Mo.) and Toni Sexton (Fr., Excelsior Springs, Mo.) rounded out the Bearcat top five, finishing 21st and 22nd, respectively.
Central Missouri State took the team victory in the 10-team women's competition with 32 points. Northwest tallied 77, easily out-distancing third-place MidAmerica Nazarene.
On the men's side, Northwest was fourth as a team, finishing behind meet winner MidAmerica Nazarene, second-place Central Methodist and third-place Central Missouri State.
Jamison Phillips (Jr., Chesterfield, Mo.) was the top Bearcat runner, taking 15th place in a time of 20:59.0 over the four-mile course. John Heil (Jr., Excelsior Springs, Mo.) was 19th with a clocking of 21:09.6. John Kasoa (Sr., Makuini, Kenya) was the Bearcats No. 3 runner, taking 22nd place in 21:16.1
Chad Fowler (Jr., Kearney, Mo.) and Ezra Busieney (Jr., Nairobi, Kenya) rounded out the Bearcats' top five. That pair finished 24th and 25th, respectively.
