Bearcat Men, Women Third at Doane Meet
CRETE, Neb. - The Northwest Missouri State University's men's and women's cross country teams each finished third at the Dean White Invitational, hosted by Doane College Saturday. The men's meet had five teams, while the women's meet had six.
The Northwest women were led by Ashley Grosse, who ran the 5K course in 20 minutes, 28.52 seconds. Grosse finished 15th. Kim Scarborough also finished in the top 20 for Northwest. Her time of 20:44.02 was good enough for 19th.
For the Bearcat men, Jamison Phillips turned in a top-10 performance. He ran the eight kilometers in a time of 28:01.66. Chad Fowler narrowly missed being in the top 20, finishing 21st in 29:06.91. Two of Northwest's top runners, Bryce Good and Kyle Keraus, were not in action due to injuries.
The Northwest cross country teams will be in action again Friday at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
