Northwest Women's Cross Country Third at CMSU
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Central Missouri State University Mule Run Friday night. The Bearcat women finished third of seven teams, while the men were eighth of 10.
The Northwest women were led by Ashley Grosse, who ran the two-mile course in 12 minutes, 36 seconds. Grosse finished 12th. Kim Scarborough was right behind in 14th, with a time of 12:44. Rachel Jenkins was the other Bearcat in the top 20, with a time of 12:54.
In the team competition, Northwest tallied 87 points, behind Central Missouri State, which won the meet with 16 points and second-place Emporia State, which scored 63. The Bearcats finished in front of Missouri-Rolla, Graceland, Missouri-Valley and Mid-America Nazarene.
For the Bearcat men, Bryce Good led the way with a time of 22:04 in the four-mile run. Danny Burns and Sean Berger were the only other Northwest harriers in the top 50, finishing 34th and 48th, respectively.
In the men's team competition, Central Missouri State won the meet with a tally of 26 points. Northwest took eighth place with a score of 190.
