Bearcats Sign Two Tracksters
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University women's track and field coach Vicki Wooton has announced the signing of two student-athletes to national letters-of-intent.
Sarah Howard (Raytown, Mo.) and Betsy Lee (Lawrence, Kan.) will both be joining the Bearcats this fall.
Howard will run both cross country and track and field for the Bearcats. The Raytown South High School product helped lead her cross country team to a third-place finish at the Missouri Class 3A State Championships this season, while the team won a state championship last year. She is a state qualifier in the 4x800-and 4x400-meter relays and is a four-time track letterwinner. She is also a strong student. Howard has been a member of National Honor Society for three years and holds a 3.5 grade-point average.
"I feel Sarah has a great deal of untapped potential," Wooton said.
Lee is a transfer from the University of Kansas. She will run both cross country and track at Northwest. Lee is a graduate of Lawrence Free State High School. She was a team captain on the cross country team at Lawrence Free State High School her senior season. She was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track and field. Lee ran on a state championship 4x800-meter relay team in 1997 and 2000.
"Betsy will add experience to our young cross country and track teams," Wooton said.
