A native of Independence, Kansas, Jason Sack enters his third year at Northwest after five years at Avila University, an NAIA institution in Kansas City, Mo. At Avila, he coached the cheerleading squad to three consecutive Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) College Cheerleading National All-Girl Division II top-10 finishes, and was named the Heart of America Conference Spirit Squad Coach of the Year in 2003. In 2005-06, he judged at the American Championships “Official Florida State Championships” and the UCA’s “National All-State Cheerleading Competition.”
As an athlete at Pittsburg (Kan.) State University, Sack was a member of the cheer squad that finished in the top-10 at the UCA College Nationals from 1996-99, including a second-place finish in 1997. He was named captain in the 1997-98 academic year, and earned the team’s “Hustle Award” in 1997 and 1998.
Sack has held positions at Lee’s Summit West High School, Park Hill High School, Park Hill South High School, Neodesha High School, and Independence Community College. He was an instructor from 1997 to 2002 for the Universal Cheerleaders Association summer camps in eight states, and holds membership in the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association.
Sack is also the sponsor the the Bearcat Steppers.
Bearcat Steppers Coach - Rachel Allsbury
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Rachel Allsbury enters her second year as the head coach for the Bearcat Steppers. Allsbury brings over 20 years of studio, high school and collegiate experience to the Steppers. She was an Oak Park High School “pommie” for four years. After high school, she was a member of the Avila University Glitter Girls from 2004-2006, where the team placed in the top 10 at the Universal Dance Team Association College Nationals. Before coming to Northwest, Allsbury was the head coach for the Winnetonka High School dance team the last three years. She has been a head instructor for Universal Dance Association Staff the past four years and has choreographed numerous routines for high schools and colleges in the Midwest. Allsbury works in the St. Joseph School District with a degree from Missouri Western in special education.
