Bearcat Booster Club Meeting Minutes

Booster Members Present: Board - Dan Edmonds, Linda Girard, Jon Baldwin, John Van Cleave, Michelle Drake, Teri Harr Jerry Lutz, Bob Rice, Ray Courter, Pat Haynes, Allison Hoffmann; ex-officio - Wren Baker, Mark Clements; Guests - John Coffey, Ben McCollum, Phillip Dowden, Nate Davis, Scott Nielson
President Drake called meeting to order.
Harr motioned and Hoffmann seconded to approve the minutes of June 16, 2011, motion carried; Treasurer's report - Clements reported the balance in General Fund is $9,812.38 and $66,178.60 in Transportation - Baldwin motioned and Van Cleave seconded to accept the Treasurer's Report, motion carried
Old Business -
- A. Fall Barbecue - Bearcat Stadium, August 28 at 5:00
- B. John Yates is stepping down from the Board; suggestions were mentioned for replacement and formal nominations will be brought to next meeting
New Business -
- A. Men's Basketball Request - Coach McCollum requested assistance with the purchase of a "Shoot-a-Way" fpr $6,093
- B. Bearcat Radio Network - John Coffey presented a proposal for the purchase of KXCV/KRNW and Bearcat Radio Network announcements - stays the same as last year ($2000) and gives us sponsorship of the halftime "Where are they now?" feature during football and the Halftime report during basketball season; 1 spot in each half of all football, men's and women's basketball games including postseason play; mentions in billboards aired during broadcasts and acknowledgement as Sports Underwriter on KXCV/KRNW website
Other Business - Clements presented an 11-12 Membership Update as of 8-10-11 - 476 members (compared to 540 for 10-11) for a total of over $73,000 in total membership - Categories are: 5 Champion, 6 All-American, 6 All-Conference, 38 Bearcat and 421 Pride; individual tickets for first home game and Arrowhead tickets go on sale August 22 to general public
AD Report - Baker introduced Scott Nielson, Associate AD for External Affairs; Nate Davis, Assistant AD-Marketing/Promotions/Licensing; Phillip Dowden, Assistant AD for Media Relations; football reported August 10, Volleyball and Soccer report August 13; compliance meetings have been scheduled with teams; USA TODAY did an article on Northwest Football Coaches; 2 alumni want to do a documentary on the Northwest football program; Mel and Carol Tjeerdsma celebration will be held September 9 and 10 to raise money for the "Mel Tjeerdsma Fund for Athletic Success" which will benefit all student athletes; Football on September 24, which is Family Day, will honor Coach Bostwick

B. Bearcat Radio Network - Rice motioned and Hoffmann seconded to provide $2000 for the radio announcement sponsorship, motion carried
Baldwin motioned and Harr seconded to adjourn; motion carried. Next meeting will be September 8, 2011.
