Minutes
June 12, 2008 - Annual Meeting

Board Members Present: Jon Baldwin, Ray Courter, Dan Edmonds, Linda Girard, Teri Harr, Pat Haynes, Jerry Lutz, Jim Goecken, and John Yates; in addition, Booster Club members present were Richard Fulton, Robert Rice, Rod and Sharon Shain, Mike and Nancy Thomson and Ed Wiley; ex-officio: Mark Clements, Bob Boerigter

President Girard called the meeting to order.

Lutz motioned and Yates seconded to accept the minutes from the May 8, 2008 meeting with the change in the spelling of Northup, motion carried; Edmonds motioned and Baldwin seconded to accept the treasurer's report which was reported by Clements as: General Account - $18,978.21 with commitments of $11,300, leaving a balance available of $6,978.21; and $59,344.06 in Transportation; motion carried.

Old Business -
A. There are 305 Booster Club members in 07-08; where the prior year had 265; the Premium members are up by 6 with 59 current members; Clements shared a list of expenditures for FY 07-08; the Booster Club spent $50,749.38 towards Bearcat Athletics
B. Membership Drive - brochures will be mailed shortly - the mailing list has grown to 740 names which include businesses, current season ticket holders not members and members; incentive to join by September 15 will be a drawing for a limo ride for up to 8 people to the UNO football game and Missouri Western Basketball game; it was suggested that brochures be available for the Football golf tournament

New Business -
A. Athletic Training - Clements submitted a request from the Athletic Trainers for the purchase of new ice machines (current machines 15 years old); there were 4 bids presented with the low bid being $4706 with a 2-week delivery time and no shipping charge
B. Athletic Marketing - Morris White presented a promotion package for $4000 which would include one (1) full-page color ad in program (both football and basketball), one (1) full-page black and white game program ad (football and basketball), exclusive sponsor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, scrolling ad across from scorer's table (basketball)
C. Vehicle request - Clements presented bids for a 12-passenger van; Chevy 2009 ($25,551), Chevy 2008 ($23,450), and Chevy 2008 ($24,404); Ford 2009 V-10 ($24,356.68) and Ford 2009 V-8 ($23,309.58); high demand by cross country, golf, and tennis for this size van in fall and spring
D. Nominating Committee - the nominees for new board terms were Jon Baldwin, Dan Edmonds, Jim Goecken, Teri Harr, John Yates for reappointment and Robert Rice and Rod Barr; Haynes motioned and Lutz seconded that nominations cease, motion carried; a ballot vote was taken and the new board members are Baldwin, Edmonds, Goecken, Harr, Yates and Rice; Harr presented the slate of officers as Jerry Lutz-president, Jon Baldwin-vice president, and Pat Haynes-secretary

Athletic Director Report - Boerigter gave an annual report on the athletic successes for the past year; 96 Bearcats were on the MIAA Commissioner Academic Honor Roll (compared to 85 last year); Athletic marketing department won six awards at the NACMA National Convention for posters, game promotion and radio ads; new field turf was installed at Bearcat Stadium with field named Mel Tjeerdsma Field; track and field runways and throwing areas relocated; renovated locker room for women's basketball and volleyball; UNO will become 11th MIAA member on July 1, 2008

Other Business - none

Action Items -
A. Ice machine - Harr motioned and Edmonds seconded to purchase ice machine from Buller Fixture Co. for $4,706; motioned carried
B. Marketing - Goecken motioned and Baldwin seconded to purchase the marketing presented by White for $4,000; motion carried
C. Vehicle Fleet - Yates motioned and Harr seconded to purchase the 2008 Chevy with remote keyless entry, swing out passenger doors for $24,404; motion carried

Harr motioned and Baldwin seconded to adjourn. Motion carried. The next meeting will be July 10.
