Bearcat Booster Club Meeting Minutes

Booster Board Members Present:  Pat Haynes, Linda Girard, John VanCleave, Jon Baldwin, Dan Edmonds, Allison Hoffmann, Michelle Drake, Jim Goecken, Bob Rice, Rod Barr; Ex-Officio Present:  Mark Clements; Guests Present:  Scott Bostwick, Jeff Smith, Jessica Rinehart

President Rice called meeting to order.

Baldwin motioned and Hoffmann seconded to approve the minutes of  February 10, 2011, motion carried; Treasurer's report -  Clements reported balance of $30,798.02 in the general fund after deducting $16,675 in outstanding commitments, and $51,178.60 in Transportation with a pending deposit of $15,000; Baldwin motioned and Hoffmann seconded to accept the Treasurer's Report, motion carried; in addition, Clements distributed a list of  contributions made by the Booster Club to Athletics for 2010-2011 year that amounted to $62,531.52

Old Business - Clements has submitted the new brochure for 2011-2012 to get a mock-up that he will send around for reviewing

New Business -

  • A. Athletic Training/Weight Room - Smith made a request for the purchase of four (4) athletic warm-up cords which will be used for rehabilitation and resistance training at a cost of $169 each; purchase of a digital scale and wall mounted height rod for a cost of $682.70; and to provide fund assistance for 4 graduate assistants to attend the NATA Convention New Orleans - their total cost will be $2,996, but they have done some fund raising
  • B. Football - Coach Bostwick made a reported that football uniforms are changing from Nike to Adidas and they need to purchase two uniforms to get the new year started; he requested $7,000 to $8,000 to supplement the football athletic budget to get the first initial set of uniforms; they rotate football uniforms on an average every 4 years
  • C. Volleyball - Coach Rinehart made a request to purchase a video camera to be used for recruiting for $179

AD Report - Clements reported that as far as new uniforms for football, the athletic department is looking at rest of sports; nominations for 2011 Hall of Fame class are being accepted; women's basketball is having a phenomenal year - conference title, regional title and ready for Elite 8 in St. Joseph; spring sports are underway with baseball struggling (only 12 games played so far), softball had home opener on March 15, tennis played March 17 and have several matches the week of March 21; with UNO dropping out of the conference, we picked up Eastern New Mexico to fill the vacant spot; October 15 is homecoming; the potential professional football lockout should not affect the Arrowhead game because we have a contract

Other Business -

  • A. Spring Football scrimmage will have more of a game atmosphere with ticket sales and concession - board members volunteering to assist were Haynes, Rice, Barr, and Baldwin
  • B. Nominating committee - Hoffmann, Drake, and Rice; those whose terms expire are Rice, Baldwin, Edmonds, Goecken, Harr, and Yates

Actions Items -

  • A. Athletic Training/Weight Room request - Barr motioned Hoffmann seconded to provide $2400 for the purchase of the warm-up cords, the digital scale and partial funding for NATA convention, motion carried
  • B. Football request - Baldwin motioned and Drake seconded to provide $8,000 in assistance with purchase of new uniforms, motion carried
  • C. Volleyball request - Barr motioned and VanCleave seconded to provide $360 for the purchase of 2 video cameras, motion carried

Baldwin motioned and VanCleave seconded to adjourn; motion carried.  Next meeting will be April 14, 2011.
