Bearcat Booster Club Meeting Minutes
Thursday, February 9, 2012
Booster Members Present: Board – Rich Mendenhall, Pat Haynes, John Van Cleave, Linda Girard, Teri Harr, Michelle Drake, Ray Courter, Dan Edmonds, Jim Goecken, Allison Hoffmann; ex-officio – Wren Baker, Scott Nielson
President Drake called meeting to order.
Harr motioned and Hoffmann seconded to approve the minutes of January 12, 2012, motion carried; Treasurer’s report - General Fund is $48,021.95, after pending expenses of $14,416.95 ($5,720, Baseball; $1,816 Track & Field; $5,614, Baseball/Softball; $1,266.95, Weight Room) and $86,178.60 in Transportation – Edmonds motioned and Van Cleave seconded to accept the Treasurer’s Report, motion carried
Old Business –
A. Vehicle Fleet – Nielson reported that he and Mark Clements are working on pricing at this time
New Business –
B. Tennis Request – Nielson made a request on behalf of Coach Rosewell for the purchase of a tennis racquet stringer – current one is worn out (15 years old) – can get a used electric one for no more than $1,000 which includes shipping
Other Business –
C. Nielson read a letter of resignation from the Board from Jon Baldwin; board members were asked to bring names to Drake for his replacement
D. Board members completing their term this June are: Drake, Haynes, Barr, and Courter
AD Report – Baker reported – Men’s basketball sits alone in 1st place as of today (2/9/12) with 3 of the 5 remaining games to be played at home; MIAA tournament is March 1-4 in Kansas City; baseball is beginning February 17, softball begins February 11 and track February 17; Conference members update: Truman has applied to GLVC after 12 & 13 seasons; MIAA conference meets in Spring so will discuss conference numbers – 12 & 16 works well, 14 does not; NCAA convention will address several issues which will include the “ease of burden” legislation which is related to eliminating phone call restrictions – currently required to record every call to an athlete; to promote more community engagement, Northwest hosted the Special Olympics this past weekend and will host their spring track meet April 21; Relay for Life scheduled for June 2 has also been moved to Northwest campus
Actions Items – Goecken motioned and Harr seconded to provide up to $2,000 to purchase tennis racket stringer, motion carried
Harr motioned and Girard seconded to adjourn; motion carried. Next meeting will be March 8, 2012.
