Northwest hosts Washburn for two game set

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Bearcat Field will be alive and well with the sounds of spring Wednesday as the Northwest Missouri State baseball team will take on Washburn in a double-header with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Ichabods come into the series 5-19 on the season and 5-18 in the conference. Riley Price is the leading hitter for Washburn and comes in hitting .411 with a team leading 18 runs batted in.

The Bearcats took on the Ichabods in a double-header earlier this season in Topeka, Kan. winning both contests. Northwest took game one 5-1 and game two 8-3.

Eric Swain led the way for his team going 4 for 8 in the double-header with a double and two RBIs. Austin Warren earned the victory in game one while Chase Anderson picked up the victory in the second game.

Northwest is 9-21 on the season and 7-18 in the MIAA. The Bearcats will take on Washburn Wednesday and then hit the road for a three game series against Southwest Baptist starting Friday with game one Scheduled to start at 3 p.m. followed by game two and the series finale slated to start at 1 p.m. Saturday.
